Methodology, Particularly Paradigms Used In Two Articles - 550 Words

Methodology, Particularly Paradigms Used In Two Articles (Article Critique Sample) Content: METHODOLOGY AND METHODSby Students NameCode + Course NameProfessors NameUniversity NameCity, StateDateArticle 1Chang, Hueiju, and Hsi-Peng (2014) carried out research on the important nature of the social media with regards to popular cohesion and message diffusion. Despite the fact that several paradigms are employed in research such as positivism, critical theory, and critical theory, these researchers apply the positivism approach (Ryan 2015). It was developed by a French philosopher known as August Comte. His argument about paradigms was that actual knowledge is one obtained from the researchers senses. As such, the research methodology used include observation and experiment. Chang, Hueiju, and His-Peng use the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) to observe the influence of quality and attractive messages on popular cohesion and message diffusion. When coupled with relative significance and user expertise, the usefulness and preference of a quality message lead to liking and sharing of the intention. As such, business utilizing the social media for marketing purposes gain market shares for their products. Article 2Saini and Budhwar (2008) employ the critical theory model which is very different from the earlier discussed approach. The argument of this method revolves around the employment of ideology critique and the action research. This method was to serve as a means to provide social scientists with an investigation plan for their researches. Following the research by Saini and Budhwar, who were investigating the human resource management practices of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), they utilized the case study methodology. This allows the contextual analysis of phenomena and deducing proper conclusions from the same. It is a form of action research where the researchers can analyze information, generate solutions which are implemented (Huss 2016). Their analysis revolves around the argument that the people management practices in SM Es are hindered primarily by their bounded rationality (Saini and Budhwar 2008). This implies that these entrepreneurs usually believe that they are doing all they can to manage their people resources. Following their analysis, they discovered that their focus is primarily on financial, emotional and social support for their workforce. MeritsFollowing the first methodology employed in the first article, positivism, there is a unique advantage it offers. This paradigm produces quantitative traits in the research implying that data trends can be easily monitored and generated as opposed to the qualitative form of data (Ryan 2015). The data is very reliable. On the other hand, the critical theory model collects information that is analyzed to produce solutions to be acted upon. Its merit is the solutions generated are dependent on the reality of the situation. It can also employ both the positivism and post-positivism approaches (Rubin and Babbie 2011). As opposed to the positivism me thodology, however, the critical theorys limitation is that it cannot be used to generate multiple conclusions or interpretation from the data (Huss 2016). Best approach for my studyThe positivism paradigm bests suits my research because of its ability to generate quantitative data for analysis purposes. The data is therefore not limited to one or two interpretations similar to the critical theory model. The critical theory model focuses on generating solutions from the presented reality...

Communication in the business sector has called for the attention of many people because it has been discovered that it is the source of most business failure. For this reason, I was compelled to carry out a research on the communications within an organization (Thomas 2010). This was achieved through several researches run in institutions and some business organizations. It is from the findings that this report was compiled and assumptions as well as recommendations made.Scope of the ReportThis report is centered on the different modes of communication in an organization. In addition to that, it will focus on the diverse effects of different c ommunication styles on the staff and the organization at large. For this reason, therefore, this report gives detailed information of how different communication styles among the leadership such as, authoritative and dictatorial styles influence the other communications in the organization. The conclusion is based on the factual evidence found and thereafter, a recommendation of the appropriate communication styles to be used in a business organization.IntroductionCommunication is the process of transmitting information from one party to another. It could either be formal or informal. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge the fact that it is the mode of leadership which influences the communications within the organization (Ashkana sy 2011). For example, the team and group dynamics as well as the interpersonal relationships among the staff members are highly influenced by the style which the leaders adapt. It is, therefore, essential that we understand the leadership and management communication styles which form the foundation for the other communications in an organization (Thomas 2010). This is a conclusion based on my experience in an organization as well as a series of researches in several other organizations.Findings and DiscussionLeadership and management communication stylesLeadership to begin with is the method with which the activities of an organization are influenced with the objective of reaching the achievement of the set goals of the business organization (Ashkanasy 2011).Research indicates that it is the leadership of the organization which is responsible for both the successes and failures of the organization. This, therefore, calls for proper management with qualified leadership skills among the managers of all business organizations (Dwyer 2013). In addition to that, effective leadership comes along with essential traits for the manager. For example, an effective leader is one who is highly flexible. This is in terms of their ability to adapt change towards the positive quite fast for the benefit of the business. A successful leader must also be firm and quick in decision making (Ashkanasy 2011). This is based on the fact that the decisions, which are made, have a significant impact on the achievement of the objectives of the business within the outlined durations. These traits are besides others and thus demanding all managers to bear them and to be able to run their organizations and to take up the responsibility of leading employers. In the several organizations within which I conducted my research, I discovered that there are several leadership styles which different managers employ in their management. Most leaders adapted the diverse techniques depending on their employeesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ traits, the size of their organization and their personality among other factors (Dwyer 2013). The varying leadership styles were discovered on the foundation of how authority was being exercised. However, not all leadership styles were healthy to both the leaders and employees as it is discussed below; * Dictatorial style * Authoritative style * Consultative style * Participative team styleThe style used is based on the amount of authority common between the leadership and the employees. The diagram below represents the different style with respect to their complexity and suitability. The dictatorial styleThis is a form of leadership where the leader acts as a dictator. This implies that all authority is on the leader. In addition to that, the, manager has the utmost authority to make decisions within the organization. The manager, therefore, determines the work load per working session of the employees. The manager also determines their working conditions and makes other decisions, which at certain, extremes. The decisions include compensation to employees and likewise their working or being laid off from work (Koproswka 2010). It is, however, important to note that, among the outstanding description of this form of leadership style, the voices of the workers are never put into consideration rather they have to comply to what is set by their leader. The leader also employs unwarranted disciplinary authority against the staff who fails to comply with his orders. The authoritative styleThis form of leadership is also known as the autocratic style. It entails leaders who set their expectations, goals and objectives of the firm so undoubtedly (Hargie 1999). This is always in relation to what has to be done and the timing of the same. It is pretty close to the dictatorial form of leadership because the decisions made are dependent on the authoritarian leader (Koproswka 2010). Research reveals that this style is often manifested when there is s carce time for group discussion to be considered in decision making and when the leader happens to be the only clued-up member of the group. Among its distinguishing traits, the leader is always bossy and attempts to degrade the other members of staff (Loewy 2009).The consultative styleThis is a form of leadership, which is task, leaning and utter focus is placed on the final results which are reached at by employing the ideas and knowledge of the other members. This implies that before any plans are formulated and implemented, in addition to any coming up, with any decision, a process has to be followed in which all members of the staff have to participate (Hargie 1999). However, the final decisions will always be made by the leader who will be based on the ideas given by the members. This form of leadership is found on the assumption that the staff will be affected by the decisions made. Therefore, it is essential that they participate in solving any problems that are subject to a rising in time. This style also emphasizes on team building, which is unlike, the case with the earlier discussed styles of leadership (Koproswka 2010).The participative team styleThis is a form of leadership style where all members of the organization are engaged in order to recognize the fundamental goals of the firm. This form of leadership also helps to advance the processes and tactics of meeting the set goals and objectives. The describing characteristic of the leader in this form of leadership is that they take up the role of the facilitator and not that of a dictator who dominates on the staff (Hayes 2013). The final decision is always limited to the group thus ensuring it is profitable to all members. * It was discovered that dictatorial and authoritative styles of leadership led to a cold emotional climate among the staff. In addition to that, they also created poor interpersonal skills among the staff with the workers living a different life when compared to their leaders . They also created inferiority among the workers thus lowering their performance and likewise the success of the business. * Consultative and participative styles on the other hand created positive interpersonal relations. In addition to that, the verbal and non verbal communication that came with them was fairly sociable. Team spirit was recognized and the two styles thus led to business success.ConclusionsFrom the research, it was discovered that the mode of communication used by the leadership greatly influenced the other communications within the organization or institution under discussion . This is as discussed below (Hargie 1999).~dictatorial style:From the research conducted, dictatorial form of leadership was proved to be the worst. It lowers the self esteem of the members and lowers their performance at work.~authoritative styleThis form of leadership likewise had negative impact on the members of staff. It created in...

The previously existing ideology of fixed rate charts of time and distance are solely discarded in this particular taxi service (Holtshouse, 2013). Two formats are present within the application. One is for the driver and the other one is for the custom er. At first, both the customer and the driver have to register themselves in the application. The customer, with the help of his format, can search for the taxis and thus book for the cab. As soon as the customer enters the required data of time and destination, the drivers available and suitable in that time and area, gets a specific notification. They then start bidding. They are supposed to bid for the next ten minutes and after that, the customer selects his choice of driver. The driver, with the winning bid, grabs the customer and thus starts his journey. Both the customer and the driver become partners, when the customer selects his bid (Laudon Laudon, 2016). The most interesting feature of this taxi service is that the customers do not need to carry his or her debit and credit card for making payments. They can even pay in cash. A special discount is given to the customers for providing customer loyalty. Business Operations Bid Taxi has become exclusively popular and well accepted for their flexible and scalable business operations. Information technology is present within their application. The embedded information technology helps the taxi service with their excellent business operations. There are five major business operations in Bid Taxi. They are given below: i) Taxi Booking: The first and the most important business operation of this service of Bid Taxi is the booking of taxis. It is extremely easy to book a taxi with this application. The customers can easily book their cabs with the help of only click in their android mobile. The customers will give the destination and the time they want to travel (Van Der Aalst, La Rosa Santoro, 2016). Then he would check for all the available drivers. One any particular destination, the drivers would start bidding for prices. They would bid for ten minutes. After this bidding gets over, the customer would be able to choose any one driver. Next, the driver would come to the desired location for picking his customer. As soon as the customer gets into the taxi, he would be able to track down his entire journey for security. Moreover, the driver uses the GPS facility for finding his location and destination. ii) Techniques Provided: This is the second important business operation of the taxi service of Bid Taxi. A set of techniques as well as tools are present within the application. These are the parts of information technology. These tools and techniques help the customers and the drivers to find their location (Bloom et al., 2014). An embedded GPS facility is present in the application. The cost of the journey is previously booked. As soon as the customer books the cab, a price is fixed and under no circumstances this price can be changed. This helps to discard the extra costs that are often demanded by the drivers after the journey. iii) Dispatch: The next business operation of this Bid Taxi service is the dispatch operation. Allowance time of the Bid Taxi is put manually and therefore all the customers can easily book the taxis according to their choice. iv) Verification: Another important business operation of this taxi service of Bid Taxi is the verification of identity cards. Both the customer and the driver have to provide their respective identity cards for taking up the journey. This is extremely important for the security of the customer and the driver (Laudon Laudon, 2015). If any one of them could not provide identity cards in the journey, they will not be allowed to take up this journey. Due to this verification of identity cards, it is almost impossible to face frauds in the taxi service of Bid Taxi. v) Accounting Information System: The fifth important business operation of the taxi service of Bid Taxi is the presence of accounting information system. AIS is a significant type of information system that helps to simplify the entire process of payment in any business. Bid Taxi has incorporated this particular within their application and the customers easily make payment with the help of their credit or debit cards. Moreover, even if these cards are unavailable, the customers can make payment through cash. These business operations are extremely useful for both the driver and the customers and they can complete their journey perfectly without any type of complexities (Zhao et al., 2013). Moreover, these business operations have helped the taxi service to gain utmost popularity. Three Recommendations In spite of having such vast variety of advantages and features, Bid Taxi does not comprise of certain features. It is highly recommended to them for implementing these features. The three recommendations for the Bid Taxi service are given below: i) Wi-Fi Connectivity: The first recommendation for the taxi service of Bid Taxi is the incorporation of Wi-Fi connection within the service. As soon as the customer gets into the car, he would be getting the specific feature of internet connection. This is the most needed feature in todays technologically advanced world (Lloyd, 2017). The customers would be extremely happy as well as benefitted if they will get this feature of Internet connectivity. Moreover, if the journey is longer, the customers would be even entertained with the help of this Internet connectivity. This particular recommendation is supposed to bring maximum utility to the business operation of Bid Taxi. ii) Quality Improvements: The second recommendation for this particular taxi service of Bid Taxi is the improvement in quality of their services. The main service in any cab service is the driving quality. This should be improved by the organization on the highest priority (Schwalbe, 2015). The quality of the driving of the drivers could be improved only when training is provided to the drivers. They should be properly trained by professional drivers so that they are able to produce the best quality of services to their customers. iii) Separate Service for Aged Citizens: The next recommendation for this particular taxi service of Bid Taxi is the separate and better service for the aged citizens (Heizer, 2016). They should be treated with extra care and comfort throughout the journey. Conclusion Therefore, from the above discussion, it can be concluded that, Bid Taxi is one of the most popular taxi service in the world. They had incorporated the great feature of bidding facility within their application. This feature helps the customer to choose their desired driver after the drivers had bided for ten minutes and a fixed price is set. This particular taxi service has even incorporated information technology within their application for making the business operation even more simple and easier for all types of customers. The commercial utilization of information technology eventually includes both technology of telephony as well as computer technology. Various integrated circuits and transistors are included within IT. The above report has explained about the entire scenario of the taxi service of Bid Taxi. There are various significant business operations present within the application. All these business operations are well depicted here. Furthermore, three important recomm endations are also provided here that should be incorporated within the service. Bid Taxi is one of the most significant taxi services that provide service to their customers. It has the unique feature of bidding facility. The customers can book their cabs by means of bidding. This bidding would be done by the drivers (Al-Mamary, Shamsuddin Abdul Hamid, 2013). They would be bidding for various costs and the cost that is preferable to the customer would be chosen by him. Moreover, this Bid Taxi provides excess safety and security as the customers are able to track their journey. The drivers can also utilize the Global Positioning System or GPS for searching their location as well as destination. The main benefit of this feature is that even if the driver does not know anything about the route, they would have the ability to find their location. The customers also feel secured with this service of tracking of the journey. There are several important business operations of this particular taxi service of Bid Taxi (Jacobs, Chase Lummus, 2014). However, few things a re needed to be implemented for the betterment of the service. These typical suggestions are provided below: i) Implementing Several Measures for Safety and Security: The very first and the most important suggestion to the taxi service of Bid Taxi is the implementation of several safety and security measures within the service. The most significant safety measure within the driving services is the safe and secured driving (Pinto, 2015). All the drivers should be well trained in this aspect so that there exists no loophole for the problems of unsafe driving. Special training should be arranged by the organizational management for all the drivers, so that they could drive at every situation. Distractions are the major reasons for accidents on road in everydays life. These drivers should be trained in such a way that they have the ability to drive after several distractions or noise. The main problem with the youth generation or young people is the mobile phones (Sennewald Baillie, 2015). The young drivers may be busy and distracted with their mobile phones and thus not being able to concentr ate on road. These distractions caused by the mobile phones are not only dangerous and hazardous for the journey or driving, but also for the health and safety. Thus, they should be properly trained in such a way that they have the capability to work in every condition without getting distracted. This would be extremely for the service. Furthermore, examination should be arranged for these drivers (Zhao et al., 2013). Before, they enter into the professional world; they would have to give this examination for proving that they are ready for driving. If they are not able to pass this exam, they will not be taken by the organization. ii) Feedbacks from Drivers and Customers: The next suggestion for this taxi service Bid Taxi is taking feedbacks from drivers as well as customers. The drivers and the customers can rate each other and provide relevant feedbacks (Schaper et al., 2014). These feedbacks would be added to the profile of both the customer and the driver. If the driver gets a good review, he would be getting bonus point and if does not, negative points would be given to him. References Al-Mamary, Y. H., Shamsuddin, A., Abdul Hamid, N. A. (2013). Organisational Behaviour Quality Management Practices

Question: Describe about the Organisational Behaviour for Quality Management Practices. Answer: Relevant thesis statement The thesis statement that is found in this article by Hutchison and Boxall (2014) is the following: Chief Executives of the private, not-for-profit and public organizations in New Zealand are facing significant challenges and risks in managing the organizational behavior. To form a question it will be as follows: What are the risks and challenges that the chief executive is of the private, not-for-profit, and public sectors perceiving as the most significant in managing the organizational behavior? Identification of the strengths and weaknesses of the article based on the thesis statement The article by Hutchison and Boxall (2014) has focused on the present organizational problems in New Zealands public, private and not-for-profit sectors. It contains a survey result conducted in 2012 on 265 Chief Executives of New Zealand. This article has tried to emphasize the current and relevant situations and its strength lies in the fact that the outcomes are all real situations. The objective of the article was to find out the challenges and the result has underlined a complex organizational environment. According to Jensen et al 2014, it is found that both the market and the technology have changed and the support of the external stakeholders is more conditional than the previous. The article also discusses the effective ways through which the human resource managers can support development of managerial skills. Therefore, the article not only explains the problems but also recommends the solutions of those problems. Kuipers et al (2014) opined that it has undertaken a detail ed study, in which the authors have categorically highlighted the three most necessary management skills for the Chie Executives. Apart from that, the human resource management is also discussed and its role in managing the managers is also discussed. This article has found out the areas in which the uncertainties are found. While doing this, an assessment of the overall situation of New Zealand is also described. Such a thing helps in understanding the situation better. According to Agarwal et al (2013), the reader would be able to relate it with the current economic condition of New Zealand. As the article has considered all three-industry sectors of New Zealand, one could find analysis of both the manufacturer and consumer behavior. Again, this article has focused on the large scale and small scale industries for a wider study. Myers 2013 opined that this article has related the authors opinions with the current market situations. The recommendations that are suggested through this article are taken from the literary resources. The authors have also demonstrated the method of data collection and the results of the survey in detail. It is helpful to the readers for a better understanding. The primary weakness of the article is that it does not focus on any particular industry or any particular organization. As discussed by Brown and Osborne (2012), moreover, the survey has been done on 2012 and in a transitional market scenario; it is doubtful how long the outcome would be the same. Therefore, the survey results were too some extent limited. Own viewpoint about the article The article has provided with many significant data. I have found the key challenges and risks in the organizations. The four major areas that need to be considered are the effects of globalization, technological advancement, political uncertainty, and various economic threats. New Zealand is a small economy and primarily concentrates on the dairy industry. It can be said that they need large and organized industries to enhance their productivity. Through this essay I come to know that how the management of New Zealand can develop their capability to prevent crisis and increase productivity. It is also the responsibility of the human resource managers to tackle the situation through designing and developing the skills in the leaders of the organizations. I have found that the biggest challenge of the leaders is to manage an educated workforce. The primary question is directly related to the issues of productivity. Do you agree with the thesis statement? I agree with the thesis statement. I have found that New Zealand needs to consider industrial development issues. The estimation shows that 4.5 million people of New Zealand are not exposed to the international market. Therefore, the biggest challenge is to develop a skilled workforce. The chief executives of all the sectors are dealing need to focus on managing the skills, and the HR specialists need to focus on developing that skill in the chief executives. At present, New Zealand is facing competition from Australia in terms of productivity. However, the positive aspect is that they are capable of this development. Explanation of the major points The major points of this article involves a critical examination of the potential challenges in the present existing environment of maintaining the management skills in appropriate manner by the chief executives of the large corporation in New Zealand. The chief executives of New Zealand report an ambiguous and fast changing environment, which is characterised by the process of constrained funding. The managers of the organisations requite potential capabilities in order to handle the organisational renewal and uncertainty in this particular environment of New Zealand. Even this article focuses on the requirement of interpersonal and political skills and knowledge of the managers in order to manage the web of complex relationships with the stakeholders. As the mangers of the New Zealands business corporation has to manage the limited resources and different employees from different cultural and educational background, therefore, the managers need effective and adequate skills in orde r to perform own roles and responsibilities in a systematic approach. This specific article also concentrates on the duties of the HR while fostering and designing the appropriate model for smoothing the procedures of the developments, which supports and encourage the skills of the managers. Evidences and research from other academic sources According to Nel et al. (2012), as human resource management in New Zealand and Australia, have the enough capabilities to change the comprehensive approach as it helps to integrates the basic behavioural aspects, which is completely aligned to the organisational behaviour as it enhances the overall management process of the employees and the managers. Even the process of teamwork, motivation and influence of the managers also help to develop the organisational behaviour in the workplace. Even the contemporary issues have a great impact on the organisational behaviour of the corporations of New Zealand. This particular article not only discusses several fictions and activities of the HR department, however, the impact of the current exiting issues on the functions of the HR department. Dent and Whitehead (2013) have mentioned that even the skills of the mangers are required to train the new recruited employees in order to help them to understand the organisational policies, procedure s and organisational behaviour. As the provided article only discusses the major problem of the implication of appropriate management skill in the present business environment of New Zealand, therefore the HR department should come forward in order to mitigate every managerial issue as it may hamper the business operations of the organisation. On the other hand, the neighbour countries of New Zealand such as Australia, Malaysia and Singapore maintain international business in appropriate manner. Kelsey (2015) has stated that the monetary policies, labour market deregulations and the fiscal restraint of New Zealand have the great impact on the managerial skills of the organisation. Understanding of the class concepts The managers of New Zealands business organisation have understood that there is large scope and possibilities to reach the global market in suitable manner. The recruitment and retention of the employees are the biggest problems of this country. As opined by De Silva et al. (2014), the retentions of the efficient and potential employees help an organisation to attain the desired position in the marketplace and enjoy a perfect level of market share in the particular industry. The business organisations of New Zealand also posses some adequate facilities including they are not at all supporters of bureaucratic working culture and help the employees to perform according to their own perceptions as the managers believe of the efficiency, skills, knowledge and potentiality of the associated employees (Brough et al. 2014). Although New Zealand possess a vast scope and possibilities of business expansion in the international market, the business organisations fail only because of critical management problems excluding the dairy industry. The organisational style in New Zealand suggests being informal and the labour market are in stable and successful position. The major challenge involves retaining the educated workforce of New Zealand. Muchiri et al. (2012) have mentioned that the income gap and productivity determines the profitability of an organisation. Conclusion The problems related to the productivity enhance the differences in the capital intensity of New Zealand. The mangers and chief executives of New Zealand should manage the renewal process and uncertainty for controlling the power of the partner companies and stakeholders. However, it also helps to manage the associated employees and the resources. The business experts should provide effective strategies in order to solve the restructuring and renewing policies of the organisations of New Zealand.
